The Amazon River

The Amazon River is the second longest river in the world and is the main river in South America. Only the Nile River in Africa is longer. The Amazon is so wide in some areas that you cannot see the other side of the shore.
The world’s largest tropical rain forest is located in the Amazon River Basin. It is very humid throughout the basin.
The Amazon River is very important for transporting goods in and out of South America.
Many kinds of animals and fish live in the Amazon River such as alligators, anacondas, monkeys, parrots, sloths, and piranhas. There are great treasures around every corner.
