*Always have books around. Put them in your child’s bedrooms, in the living room, on bookshelves, in the bathroom, on kitchen shelves, in the car, and anywhere else you can think of.

*Make reading a sensational event! We only have two more minutes till we read the book …

*Get picture books your child loves.

*Go through the book and have them pick out objects they know.

*Once you have read the book over and over have them look at the pictures and tell the story. Praise them for how brilliant they are telling the story.

*Have parties around books. The more you celebrate books and reading the more your child will love to read.

*Make reading a ritual anytime of the day!
